Quviviq (Daridorexant) is a new treatment for chronic insomnia that has recently been approved in the UK.

It works by reducing the level of wake-promoting orexins. 

​

It is recommended for the treatment of long-term insomnia, in people who have unsuccessfully tried alternative methods like CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy). 

​

Quviviq is not suitable for people with narcolepsy, severe liver disease, or in people taking medications that are CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g clarithromycin, erythromycin, ciprofloxacin diltiazem, verapamil, itraconazole, ketoconazole, ritonavir, cyclosporin and grapefruit juice).
