Intralesional Steroid Injections

Intralesional steroid therapy is a procedure where a small amount of steroid is injected directly into the affected area of skin. It can be used to help reduce excess scar tissue such as hypertrophic or keloid scars, improve certain inflammatory skin lesions such as acne cysts, and support hair regrowth in conditions like alopecia areata.

Local anaesthetic cream is used for these injections, and a course of treatments several weeks apart may be recommended depending on the condition being treated.

Potential side effects include skin dimpling, changes in pigmentation, or more visible small blood vessels around the injection site, but this is a very safe procedure, as the amount of steroid injected at any one time is small.

The procedure is priced at £199.
