Intralesional Steroid Injections

Intralesional steroid therapy is a treatment where a small dose of a steroid called triamcinolone is injected directly into the affected area of skin. This is used to reduce excess scar tissue e.g from hypertrophic or keloid scars, improve acne cysts, and induce hair regrowth in alopecia areata.

Local anaesthetic cream is used for these injections and a course of several injections two months apart is usually recommended.

Potential side effects include skin dimpling, change in skin pigmentation, or more visible blood vessels around the injection site, but intralesional steroid therapy is a very safe procedure, as the amount of steroid injected at any one time is small.

Our steroid injections are priced at £199.
