Hayfever Treatment
Hayfever is an allergic reaction response by your immune system, to things such as pollen.
We provide assessment and advice for hayfever at our clinic. Treatment options can be discussed during your appointment.

One option for those suitable can be an injection of a mild corticosteroid into the upper leg or buttock, which temporarily suppresses the part of the immune system that causes allergies.

The average length of action of this injection ranges between 1 to 3 months. In a third of people it lasts 1 month, in a third it lasts 2 months and in a third it lasts 3 months or longer.

For patients who experience a shorter duration of relief, a repeat injection can be performed within 4 weeks if needed. Beyond this, a standard fee applies.

This injection will not be suitable if you are under 18 years old, if you are pregnant/breastfeeding or planning to become pregnant within the next 6 months, or if you have any of the following conditions: a current infection that you are on antibiotics for, glaucoma, recent or upcoming surgery, diabetes, epilepsy, a recent heart attack, ocular herpes simplex, if you have a suppressed immune system or have a condition where a suppressed immune system may be undesirable e.g. tuberculosis or cancer chemotherapy. Any live vaccines should be given at least 4 weeks before or 12 weeks afterwards.
If you would like more information or wish to check your suitability, please email us.
